What is ODOO?
Odoo is a suite of business management software tools that includes, for example, CRM, e-commerce, invoicing, accounting, manufacturing, warehouse, project management and inventory management. The community version (so-called Community Version) is free software distributed under the GNU LGPLv3 license. The Enterprise edition has its own additional features and services. The source code for the platform and the central ERP modules is curated by the Belgian company Odoo S.A.. Odoo is available for both on-premises and ready-to-use SaaS environments.
From the beginning, Odoo SA (formerly OpenERP SA) has released core open source software. With the release of version 9.0, the company moved to an open-core model, providing subscription-based proprietary enterprise software and cloud-based software as a service in addition to the open source version. In 2013, the nonprofit Odoo Community Association was founded to promote the widespread use of Odoo and to support the collaborative development of Odoo features.
Odoo's extensible architecture enables a large number of freelancers and organizations to develop Odoo apps or modules and bring them to market for sale or free download (https://apps.odoo.com/apps). The core components of Odoo are the framework with about 30 core applications (also called official modules) and thousands of community modules.
Several books have been written about Odoo, some of which focus on specific areas such as accounting or development.
Und ein bisschen Geschichte
- Im Jahr 2005 begann Fabien Pinckaers, Gründer und derzeitiger CEO von Odoo, mit der Entwicklung seines ersten TinyERP-Softwareprodukts. Drei Jahre später wurde der Name in OpenERP geändert. Das Unternehmen begann schnell zu wachsen und im Jahr 2010 hatte OpenERP mehr als 100 Mitarbeiter.
- 2013 erhielt das Unternehmen die Deloitte-Auszeichnung als das am schnellsten wachsende Unternehmen in Belgien mit einem Wachstum von 1549 % über einen Zeitraum von fünf Jahren.
- 2014 wurde das Unternehmen in Odoo umbenannt, um den Begriff „ERP“ zu diversifizieren. Im Jahr 2015, Inc. Das Magazin stufte Odoo unter den 5000 am schnellsten wachsenden Privatunternehmen in Europa ein.
- Im Jahr 2019 hat das Unternehmen eine Investition von 90 Millionen US-Dollar aufgebracht.
- Im Jahr 2021 nutzten über 5 Millionen Kunden Odoo-Produkte.
- Laut CEO Fabien Pinkkers will Odoo 1.000 neue Mitarbeiter einstellen.
Odoo hat in 5 Runden insgesamt 439,2 Millionen Dollar an Finanzmitteln gesammelt. Ihre letzte Finanzierung wurde am 8. Juni 2022 aus einer Private-Equity-Runde aufgebracht.
